About
Dr Shah is a board-certified child/adolescent/adult psychiatrist. She has many years of clinical experience treating children/adolescents suffering from different kinds of psychiatric disorders. Dr Shah completed her medical school training from Seth G.S Medical College in 2000 and then completed her residency in psychiatry in 2003 from Mumbai, India.

She moved to USA in 2005. She completed her residency in psychiatry in 2008 and fellowship in child/adolescent psychiatry in 2010 from SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY. Dr Shah has received training in psychodynamic psychotherapy for adults/children from NYU Psychoanalytic Institute Program.

Dr Shah takes the time needed to provide a detailed psychiatric evaluation so as to reach a diagnosis and formulate an individualized biopsychosocial treatment plan. She believes in a comprehensive treatment approach which includes psychotherapy, social and school interventions and medication management when indicated. Dr Shah believes in all inclusive team approach with the child/parents as active participants in the child's treatment. She will collaborate with child's therapist ( if child has outside therapist) to work towards child/family driven treatment goals. She works closely with schools and makes recommendations for school interventions ( 504 plan, IEP etc.) when indicated so as to help the child reach their potential. She utilizes the principles of psychodynamic psychotherapy in medication management and overall treatment.
Dr Shah believes in providing compassionate quality care and patiently helping with recovery from symptoms and in turn improving the quality of life of the children and their families.
Acknowledging the problem is the first big step and seeking help is the next big step in the recovery from symptoms.
